Flowers weighing over 50,000 kg and worth Rs. 1 Crore have been exported to Doha for the Qatar National Day celebrations through the Cochin International Airport. This is the largest export of flowers as a single consignment from the airport.
The flowers were exported by a special Etihad Freighter from CIAL’s perishable centre. A Chennai based firm brought special jasmine, lilium, polyanthus tuberose from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The flowers packed in 10,000 cartons, came from various locations. Special arrangements were made both at customs and CIAL to handle the cargo. National Trade Agencies undertook the customs clearance work consignment.
